Topics getting the most attention in Mission public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Proposed drug testing ordinance for city officers
The mayor asked the city attorney to draft an ordinance requiring random drug testing for city officers — including council members themselves. It's framed as a transparency gesture; expect a vote at a future meeting.

Mission Regional Medical Center Safety Recognition
The city honored Mission Regional Medical Center for achieving its 12th consecutive A grade for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, making it the only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley to reach this milestone.
Ordinance Amendment for Security Requirements
A proposed ordinance amendment aims to establish clearer security requirements for venues selling alcohol, particularly event centers, to enhance public safety.
Police Shooting Investigation
Mission police are under investigation by the Texas Rangers after a recent shooting. Details are still scarce, but this is a developing story to keep an eye on.
Fire Chief Appointment
Mission's got a new Fire Chief! Adrian Garcia is taking the reins, which is a big deal for keeping everyone safe. Get ready for some official ceremony.
